The Youth For Truth Performing Arts Company, founded in August 2006, feels that the performing arts are a great way to reach out to youth. Youth today are enticed with a vast amount of unhealthy choices due to increasing immorality. They are not only dealing with decisions related to sex, drugs and alcohol, but they are also contending with other social ills including: crime, discrimination, divorce, pornography, rape, problem gambling, racism, social exclusion, sexism, suicide, sexual diseases, declining family values, and other stress related issues provoked by peer pressure.
Youth For Truth gives youth healthy moral alternatives that can enhance their creative gifts, talents and abilities physically, mentally and spiritually.
We believe that healthy living starts and ends with the trustworthiness of God’s Word. “True health is not just the absence of disease, but rather the optimal expression of the physical, and spiritual.” (Dr. John Chappell)
We believe that dance expression and positive music can change your disposition, while at the same time, stretch and exercise the body. The Bible says in Proverbs 15:13, “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, But by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.” and Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.”
Immoral choices and emotional suffering are prevalent in today’s society. God is the only one who can turn mourning into dancing and mental strife into perfect peace. “… rejoice in the dance, And the young men and the old, together; For I will turn their mourning to joy, Will comfort them, And make them rejoice rather than sorrow.” Jeremiah 31:13. “You have turned for me my mourning into dancing… and clothed me with gladness.” Psalm 30:11. King David danced before the Lord because he knew that the joy of the Lord was his strength. I Samuel 6:14-16
We have a creative God! The Bible says that He has countless angels singing continuously around His throne; His Word says that He can turn sorrow into joy and a merry heart is like medicine. Performing arts are one positive way to restore health to an unhealthy society and Youth For Truth is on a mission to heal the broken hearted and set the captives free.
